I just finished a book recently and it reminded me so much of a podcast series I listened to. Both Long Island Compromise, a novel by Taffy Brodesser-Akner, and the eight-part documentary podcast series Root of Evil, share some themes. On their face they are entirely different: Long Island Compromise is a fictional story about a NY father who was kidnapped from his driveway and held hostage for a week. Root of Evil is a true story, an investigation into George Hodel, the patriarch of the Hodel family, who many in his own family believe was the (never solved) Black Dahlia murderer.
